Born on January 14, 1974, in Thunder Bay, Kevin Serge Durand grew up in a family with no connections to the arts—his parents, Reina (Perreault) and Serge Durand, were not involved in the creative sector. Dreaming of a career in sports from a young age, Durand had a particular fondness for hockey and committed himself to rigorous training, which resulted in him achieving remarkable physical condition.

Durand attended St. Ignatius High School, where he displayed a knack for linguistics, mastering both French and English. This bilingual ability stems from his upbringing in a French-speaking household, as his mother was French and often communicated in her native language, making French Durand’s preferred language of communication.
