He has taken on significant characters in the drama “Twisted,” the historical series “Mercy Street,” and the emotionally charged film “The Song of Sway Lake.”
Early life
Jack Ryan Falahee was born on February 20, 1989, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. With an Italian mother and an Irish father, both of whom practiced medicine, Jack was exposed to a blend of cultures. He displayed artistic tendencies from an early age. Initially educated in a Catholic school, he later moved to Huron High School, where he began to refine his acting talents.
Jack completed his education at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University in 2011. While at university, he engaged in numerous stage productions, gaining exposure to a variety of classic dramas. Additionally, he nurtured a growing passion for film and persistently pursued acting opportunities through auditions. Although initially overlooked by directors, Jack’s persistence eventually led to success in his acting career.
Career
Jack Falahee made his onscreen debut in 2012 with a role in the short film “Sunburn.” By the following year, he had roles in several movies such as “Campus Code,” “Hunter,” and “Escape from Polygamy.” Although these films did not garner significant acclaim, they were crucial in building Falahee’s foundational experience, fresh out of college.
In 2013, Falahee earned a guest spot on the television series “The Carrie Diaries,” where he worked with seasoned actors like AnnaSophia Robb, Austin Butler, and Brendan Dooling. This show served as a precursor to the iconic “Sex and the City,” which starred Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall.
That same year, Jack also appeared in an episode of “Ironside.” He continued to audition, often landing guest roles. By 2014, he featured in “Rage,” “Blood and Circumstance,” and “Slider.” Though these projects were not widely recognized, they achieved some domestic recognition in the U.S.
In 2014 as well, Falahee accepted a supporting role in the series “Twisted,” acting alongside Avan Jogia and Kylie Bunbury. Despite showing potential, the series was discontinued after its initial season, ending with only eight episodes featuring Jack. By mid-August of that year, the series was officially canceled. Shortly thereafter, Falahee received a significant breakthrough.
He was cast in “How to Get Away with Murder,” a role that would become the zenith of his career. Securing a leading role, he starred next to Viola Davis, Billy Brown, Alfred Enoch, and Katie Findlay. Falahee committed six years to the series, culminating in 2019 with its sixth and final season.
Alongside his television roles, Falahee appeared in a number of lesser-known films, including “Lily & Kat,” “Cardboard Boxer,” and “The Song of Sway Lake.” Additionally, from 2016 to 2017, he was featured in the series “Mercy Street,” where he portrayed the character Frank Stringfellow over seven episodes.
