Career

Kris Marshall gained prominence in the early 21st century through the BBC comedy show “My Family.” Over many episodes, he portrayed Nick Harper, the eldest son of the Harper family, who struggles to find work and establish himself. The humor Marshall brought to his character made the sitcom particularly appealing. Despite receiving a barrage of negative reviews from critics, the show was adored by viewers and led the country’s sitcom ratings for a whopping 11 seasons. Marshall was a main cast member of “My Family” for three years and continued to make guest appearances.

In an interview, Kris mentioned that he had outgrown his character both in age and in his approach to life. A new chapter in Marshall’s creative life wasn’t far behind. This came with Richard Curtis’s film “Love Actually.” Working with a stellar cast, including Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Colin Firth, Keira Knightley, and Liam Neeson, not only boosted his career but also provided invaluable experience. Marshall managed to stand out among these renowned names.

Then came the comedy “Death at a Funeral” directed by Frank Oz, featuring Alan Tudyk, Keeley Hawes, and Matthew Macfadyen. The film gained extraordinary popularity and was even remade in the USA. This period marked the flowering of Marshall’s talent. Being in high demand in cinema, he frequently appeared on television as well. In 2014, he joined the main cast of “Death in Paradise,” directed by Robert Thorogood. This captivating detective series with a twist-filled plot became Marshall’s workplace for three seasons.
