Early life
Born on October 19, 1983, in Stockholm, Rebecca Louisa Ferguson Sundström grew up in a culturally diverse household. Her mother, Rosemary, originally from Britain, relocated to Sweden during her youth, where she met Rebecca’s father, a Swedish native. The family of six eventually faced the challenges of divorce, with Rebecca and her siblings staying with their mother.
Rebecca’s education, initially in English, shifted to Swedish schools following her family’s changes, giving her a bilingual edge. Her childhood was enriched with music and ballet lessons, and she fondly remembers her parents’ support and the joy of her upbringing.

2013 saw her in “VI” with Gustaf Skarsgård and the graphic novel adaptation “Hercules,” alongside Dwayne Johnson. Ferguson’s versatility was further displayed in “The Red Tent” in 2014, where she secured the main role.
Her career took a significant turn with “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation” in 2014, where Tom Cruise himself endorsed her for the role of Ilsa Faust. She devoted six weeks to intensive training for this physically demanding part.
Subsequent roles in “The Girl on the Train,” “The Snowman,” and “The Greatest Showman” solidified her status in the industry. In “Doctor Sleep” (2020), she was the main antagonist, and she joined an ensemble cast in Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” in 2021.
