Early life
Born on November 8, 1988, in Vancouver, Canada, Jessica Susan Lowndes hails from a family with English and German ancestry. Raised in a Christian environment, Jessica, or Jessie as her family fondly calls her, was brought up with strong religious values. She attended a private boarding school — Pacific Academy, situated in Surrey, British Columbia. After completing her education, she made the move to Los Angeles, USA.
Jessica’s decision to pursue acting was rather impromptu. During a shopping excursion with her mother, she chanced upon a casting call for a youth television series at the mall. Despite not being selected, the experience fueled her desire for acting, prompting her to refine her acting abilities. Her parents were supportive of her aspirations to make it in Hollywood.
Jessica’s foray into music started during her school days. She performed solo in the church choir and showcased her talent at school events and in front of family and friends. She also auditioned for various roles in TV series. Her talent and distinctive looks caught the attention of Showtime channel producers, earning her the role of Peggy in a brief episode of “Masters of Horror”. The series was directed by Tobe Hooper, a distinguished figure in the horror genre.
Career
Jessica Lowndes’ television debut was in the film “Saving Milly” (2005), where she played the role of Andrea Kondracke. Subsequently, she appeared in several adaptations, enhancing her acting portfolio: “Alice, I Think” (2005), “Kyle XY” (2006), among others. In the horror film “Autopsy” (directed by Adam Gierasch), Jessica took on the role of Emily, marking her first leading role. Her co-stars included Ross Kohn, Ross McColl, and Ashley Schneider.
2008 was a pivotal year in Jessica’s career as she embraced the character of a drug-addicted schoolgirl, Adrianna. Initially, creators Jeff Judah and Gabe Sachs intended for Jessica to appear only in episodic roles. However, the audience’s affection for her character led to her promotion to the main cast. Jessica prepared for the role of Adriana by interacting with drug addicts and studying documentary materials.
Jessica’s acting career continued to ascend. She played the lead role of pilot Sarah in the film “Altitude” (2010). She then switched gears and appeared in the musical “Carnival of the Devil” (2012). The subsequent years saw Jessica in a series of roles in “Larry Gaye: Renegade Male Flight Attendant”, “Motive” and “The Prince” (2014). In the latter, she shared the screen with Bruce Willis, rapper 50 Cent, and John Cusack.
Jessica has a particular affinity for the horror genre. She returned to the screen in Darren Lynn Bousman’s horror film “Abattoir” (2016). She then appeared in the lesser-known films “Christmas at Pemberley Manor” and “A Father’s Nightmare” (2018) outside the US and Canada. She played the role of Charlotte in the melodrama “Yes, I Do” (2018), directed by Christie Will Wolf, alongside Jen Lilley and Marcus Rosner.
In 2021, Jessica Lowndes showcased her acting skills in the TV movie “Angel Falls Christmas”. The film, which also starred Chad Michael Murray, was a festive drama that beautifully captured the magic of the holiday season.
